Literary Lingo

It’s time for some Literary Lingo.

Today’s word is: pre-empt.

When a book is wanted by many publishers, some publishers go to the agent and ask/offer what it takes to prevent an auction. When the offer is accepted it is call a pre-empt. If your into eBay then view a pre-empt as the ‘buy it now’ option for books.
